Targeting

The simplest behaviour of the lot and the one normally taught first. Touch the target, click, reward.

For a novice or unknown horse we will do this from behind protective contact and use a plastic target. For an established horse we use a closed fist as a target.

This video clip shows targeting from a novice horse, she is very exuberant and a plastic target is used. The later video of her shows heer approaching the target nicely, the criteria used was "touch the target nicely" and this was tightened up on through the session.

After that there is some targeting with an experienced horse showing use of a closed fist as a target.

Finally on this clip is some targeting with a couple off 6 month old foals.
